16 and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
versus 16 says that it was joseph, is in the line not mary, so being that they mary and joseph ahd no union till after the brith of christ how does that make him his son. didn't the jews have to be blood realted, to be in the family tree? shouldn't it me mary that is the one in the line not joseph.

That's an interesting point - I have heard it before - and I am not sure there is a good 'blood' answer here - to be honest about it.
However, if the story was true (and it might not be) - then God's lineage would trump it anyways - or maybe God impregnated Mary with Joseph's seed (in vetro in the 1st century). Fact is it never says much about this whole pregnancy thing except Joseph was not the father - at least by sexual relations.
Either way - it means little to me one way or another. I am not Jewish so the whole genealogy thing doesn't do wonders for me - I have to check into how Jewish people look at these things - that's of some interest to me.
I know all I ever use Matthew 1 for is to explain to others it is important to know your history - to have a history...you cannot know who you are unless you know where you came from.
i would agree with that. it does not make a difference in my Faith, I have just always wondered about it.
but that is what faith is, isn't. faith is not having all the answers, but still knowing the truth, that Jesus was the Son of God in heaven, and the son of mary and joseph on earth.
"faith is not having all the answers, but still knowing the truth" (Wee man)
Isn't this a contradiction? How can you know the truth about something without the answers?
I would say we do not have all the answers but we are on the road to finding out the truth (since I see truth, in this case, we might not ever find out).
Yes, we are finding out the answer. but faith is not having to know all the answer to knowing, even though i do not know all the answers god will take care of me.
