matthew 6 opens with talk about giving to the needy.
1"Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
so if i am doing volunteer work to get out of chapel, or because i was asked to, and people see me and reward me for it i will not get a reward i n heaven. or when i put i did this volunteer work on my resume? no i do not think so. but it makes you wonder why christen school as for volunteer work, when this could cause an addiction to get rewards on earth that would keep you out of heaven.
well that really does not make sense, but i am going to leave it in there.
matthew 6 goes on to talk about prayer. we all know about pray, we are told to pray for everything. and pray with out ceceing. well i think i do, see i talk to myself, and in turn i think i am talking to God. every seen that TV show scrubs the main charter JD talks to himself. that is how i am i talk to myself ask myself questions, but God hears me.
Fasting is also spoke about in matthew 6. well i have never been good at fasting, i am to fat and i like food to much. maybe i should fast, maybe instead of money being my idol it is food. this is just a new thought to me as i write this. but i do not think food is an idol, i just enjoy it.
Worrying is also in matthew 6. dang that is hard to read. casue it is hard not to worry. and when you try not to worry you start to worry that your worrying and it is all a mess. before i was married i was single. i had had college debt, about every 2 to 3 months, i would make myslef sick with worry that i will never get my debt paid off. since i have gotten married it has become better, cause my wife is better with money then i am, i still worry, but i know everything is getting paid. gos will take care of you it says, god takes care of everything, just look at the birds. yeah but the birds do not have house payments, or have to buy cloths for there family, of food form the store. it is stressful, how do you keep from worrying form taking over your life? ii think that is the key, you are going to worry, but how do you keep that worry in check and leave it up to god and not let the worry make you sick?

Matthew 5
while reading matthew 5 i cam across this
13"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
now i have never really under stood this, i mean how does slat lose its saltness? then i started thinking about salt. and when i pout salt in my mouth, which at first is is salty then it loses it saltness. cause it dissolves, and my mouth is clean again, but what happen to the slat? it has no longer become salt it has become nothing. so how does men tramp on it, they do not , cause salt is no more. so are we dissolving are we becoming nothing, and how do we keep our saltness? good questions you might say, but i have no clue. i guess it is by teaching and reading and spending time with god.
later on in matthew 5 it it talks about committing adultery and divorce. how come it only talks about a man leaving his wife. now i understand that at the time is was a male society it that the only reason? so how does this work with that woman are created equal? i am not sure, but reading and exploring will help us find out. matthew 5 is packed with alot of good stuff to tlak about.
matthew 5:33 talks about othes, and how your yes be yea and no be nos. this is hard to live by, it is talking about being a person of your word. it is doing what you saying you will do. not just saying you will do something, but doing it.
the hardest thing in matthew 5 to read is :
43"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor[h] and hate your enemy.' 44But I tell you: Love your enemies[i] and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
it is hard to love someone who does not love you back. it is hard just to love someone who does not like you or even respect you. why is is hard, is it cause of society saying we need to take care of ourself first, is it the goal of justice, is it human nature. what what is it that keeps us from respecting each other. why do people feel like there better then some one else. i try i try hard to not think i am better then some one. i hope you do to.

Matthew 4
reading matthew 4 it really scares me. it says that satan knows the bible. how do we know if it is satan or god taking to use. if you what the preachers on tv. they are all good speakers, they speak well and have a good lesson. but some times if you you listen to them, what they say is just a little off. it scares me, how easy it is to just changing a word, or use a versus out of context, you can get the bible to say what you want it to say.
after the temptation, and bing in the dessert for 40 days not eating. the angels attend to jesus, what doses that mean. was it angel with wings and harps, or like the birds bring him food like the ravens.
matthw4 goes on to say that then he being teaching, did he not teach until after the temptation.
on a side note, about these blogs. i trying to ready these at face value. and as a whole book. i know other books have jesus preaching at a younger age. am i not trying to compare the different books, just tying to look at it at face valve. with new eyes.
18As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." 20At once they left their nets and followed him.
now simon called peter, huh what. so is his name simon or peter, or both. why not just call him simon. or if he changed his name to peter did he have to go down to the court house and change it legally. and how hard was it for him to get people to call him peter after he has benn called simon for so long.
i like being called a fisher of men. it is hard to live by, though it is hard to be a fisher of man. it is hard to talk to people about jesus with out getting a weird look. how do you do it, how do you talk about jesus and your own walk with god with strangers.
any ideas?

Matthew 3
matthew opens with john the baptist preaching in the desert. and how that filled the prophecies of isaiah. isn't it all desert out there? why is it a big deal what he is wearing and eating. i mean why is that special in those days.
1"I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
what i want to look at is what is in bold. we know that jesus brought the holy spirit and you know this by the flames over there heads of the apostles. did john also mean by tirals, and hard ships for christ?
also in matthew 3 is the baptism of jesus. many people belive you have to be baptized to be saved many think it is something that is volunter. here is what i beliveve baptizem is. it is a part of being saved, can you be saved with out baptism i am not the one to answer that. but i believe that baptizm is a public comment that you are makeing in front of people. by being baptized you are telling these people, i am giving my life to christ, but i can not do it alone i need your help. you will help me be more like christ and i will help you.
16As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. 17And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."
growing up i have been tought ath when jesus was baptized it would be is a big crowd. then then the voice form heaven, said this is my son. how come theis was not enough for them. i can understadn today with speakers and mic and such, but back then from heaven, with a brid. how many people just have a wild brid land on his shoulder?
any more thoughts?

Matthew 2
matthew 2 talks about the magi going to worship the king of judea. and about how the king at the time king herod want to kill all the babes boys cause he was the only king. it also speaks about fulfilling the prophecies.
my question at this time is how do they know of these prophecies. i mean are they written down some place. and if it is all oral tradition, how do they know it is what it was really saying. Try this get a group of 10 people and sit in a circle, now you start and whisper to in the ear of the person on the right and say. Eplhanets have no lips and love cookies. then the perosn on your right tell the perosn on there right and go areound the cricle till it comes back to you and see if the sentence is the same. How do they keep it correct ofer 1000 years. i am not saying that there are worng, i just want to knwo how they knew.

Matthew 1
i am going to be reading out of the new international version of the the bible. the first 17 versus of the matthew is the genealogy of jesus.
16 and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
versus 16 says that it was joseph, is in the line not mary, so being that they mary and joseph ahd no union till after the brith of christ how does that make him his son. didn't the jews have to be blood realted, to be in the family tree? shouldn't it me mary that is the one in the line not joseph.
